  • High efficiency solar photovoltaic panel covers the roof, which powers the entire home including the air source heat pumps

  • Tripple glazing with Mechanical Ventilation & Heat Recovery (MVHR) allows for minimal heat loss whilst allowing fresh air to be circulated through the entire home

  • The airtightness test came back with 0.6 m3/hr.m2 which is near perfect hermetic seal and way beyond minimum requirement

  • The plot of land was purchased in auction by a client in 2004 but sat derelict for over 14 years until the client decided to pursue their retirement home.

  • Full planning permission was granted in 2020 over the period of two years of negotiations, design changes and consultations with the parish councils to satisfy the Local Planning Authority.

  • The main challenge was creating something that the end-user would be happy with and could justify the cost of construction and fulfil their requirements.

  • The design incorporates a French style chalet bungalow to keep the roof below a certain height yet allowing enough space in the roof to incorporate two double bedrooms.

  • The house required new service connections (electric, gas, sewage and telecoms) as the site was bought as a vacant land.
